The Afternoon pattern has a blouse or a shift dress option. You can choose either a box pleat or a subtle elasticated back in the dress to give it more shape.
I liked the look of the elasticated back more than the box pleats and I am really pleased with it! I already have another cut out ready to sew up.
I used a lovely navy swallow chambray from Higgs and Higgs (£6.99 m), it feels lovely on and it is really easy to work with. I do try to pick natural fibres where possible as I like breathable fabrics.
The construction was simple, there isn’t anything that is difficult. Jennifer’s instructions are fabulous and easy to follow. A bias binding casing holds the elastic making the inside super neat, I used a contrasting binding as I like the pop of colour on the inside too. It’s your choice which side the front crosses over, I chose a red heart button to compliment the Navy. I do seem to choose very ‘safe’ colours when I buy fabric so I add the pop of colour with the buttons and accessories!
A beautiful dress which is easy and quick to make, I love it!
