I was thrilled to be chosen to pattern test the Wanderer Tank PDF pattern, it is designed for woven fabrics, it is reversible and has an amazing eyelet lace up design feature on the back. Boxy in design and loose fitting, a perfect pattern for beginners.
The Wanderer is an extremely quick sew, I was very cautious with the sizing as the finished measurements were smaller than the body measurements. Is this what is called negative ease? I sized up by one size but I needn’t have been so cautious as it turned out too big. I also lengthened it by 2 inches to be more flattering on me. The test pattern was quite short but I believe the final pattern has been lengthened.
I used my Prym Vario pliers to put in the eyelets, I practiced with a few on some scrap fabric to make sure they would work out well. I really enjoyed putting them in and I think they look fab! I chose to use some ribbon I had in my stash to lace the back up rather than the matching fabric. This one is quite gapey (I have pulled it it tight at the back for the photo!) as it is too big, no fault of the pattern what so ever. I think I will size down for my next one.
I am doing another pattern test for Chelsea, so watch this space!
