Chestnut Sweater by CocoWawa Crafts

I love Ana from CocoWawa Crafts, she is so bubbly, lovely and fun to watch on YouTube, I am a big fan!  Ana has some really cute patterns on her website.  The Chestnut sweater and top are unique in the fact they have ribbon ties at the back giving you so many options and variations.

The pattern gives you a choice of a sweater that has a slightly looser fit and a top option which is longer with two side slits. I chose to make the sweater version with the one ribbon tie at the back.  The fabric I chose was a heavy weight navy striped jersey from SewSewSew UK.  A beautiful quality fabric, it reminds me of the fabric that Joules makes their clothes from.  It washed well and was a dream to cut and work with.

I lengthened the bodice by 2 inches as I don’t like my tops too short or cropped.  I worked hard at stripe matching and it paid off,  I am super happy with it! The sleeves have cuffs and the sweater version has a hem band which I love adding, hemming has to be my least favourite part of garment construction!  I chose a pink coloured ribbon for the tie at the back, it is super comfy and cosy.  I also have the children’s Mini Chestnut pattern so I can make lots of Mini Chestnuts for my girls too!

The instructions are clear and very thorough, Ana has a sew along on her YouTube channel and lots of help on her website, CocoWawa Crafts
