The Bondi dress has a high neck with cut-away armholes, you also have the option to add a fringe hem which looks super cute!
I chose a linen look cotton fabric to make mine, I didn’t add the fringe hem but definitely want to on my next one. I have seen some lovely versions on Instagram it is a perfect dress for the beach. I live in the East Midlands so there is not much chance to go to the beach! The neck and armholes are bound with bias binding. There is the option to add pockets, I generally leave these out as I don’t like extra bulk in this area!
The grey version is actually my second attempt, I chose the size according to my measurements but it ended up being really big and unflattering. I made my first one out of a lovely wine coloured fabric, it was such a shame it was so big. I downsized two sizes for this one and it fits fine.
There is a centre front and back seam with a keyhole opening at the back, the pattern asks for tear away vilene but I didn’t have any and left those steps out and it hasn’t affected the dress at all.. My fabric choice was very stable so it did’t cause any problems, maybe with loose weave fabrics it would be best not to skip that part.
The instructions are very detailed with photos to help you along the way. The dress is suited to a variety of different fabrics except for stretch or very drapey fabrics.
I would like to make another in a wine colour I had originally had in mind!
